An unconventional message from my great-grandmother
In my teens, I experimented with different ways to talk with those on the other side.
On one occasion, a friend and I used a Ouija board. We asked several questions and debated with one another if we were moving the indicator. The board spelled out pen and paper. I grabbed a notebook and a pen, sat back down, and closed my eyes with the pen poised on the paper.
Soon, my hand began to move. I didn’t know what I was writing; it wasn’t even my handwriting. We were freaked out, but we kept going. The message said that it was from my great-grandmother, who had passed away not that long ago. She went on to say there were Treasury bonds at her local bank for me that I hadn’t received. We put the board away, and I compared the handwriting on the message to a note I had from my great-grandmother; they were exactly the same.
The next morning, I hesitantly told my mother what had happened. I watched the color drain from her face as she walked to her bedroom. She came back with the Treasury bonds and told me my grandmother had given them to her the day before.
This was another example for me of how I could communicate in unconventional ways.
